UNIMED.
WITH OPEN ARMS
FOR THE NEW.
In the post-pandemic era, the world had shrunk to the size of...
From the balcony. The empty streets, the open windows, and people trying to recognize each other from a distance. Unimed Brasil needed a film that spoke of hope without sounding like opportunistic propaganda, that touched on the word "care" without turning it into a ready-made speech.
We started with a real behavior from that period: possible encounters, even when separated. We created three characters isolated in their own apartments,
each one traversing the silence in their own way, using
Art itself as a way of remaining present.
A sound that crosses the street. A gesture that responds from the other side. A look that understands it's not alone.
Distance becomes dialogue.
The film weaves these lives together until what was once individual begins to blend. What was solitude becomes exchange. The street, once empty, ceases to be a scene of absence and becomes a promise of reunion.
And when the world begins to open up again, they finally come down. The encounter that was once made of sound and imagination becomes real presence, bodies in the street, possible proximity.
Without excessive euphoria. Just simple, symbolic weight.
to be close again.
I worked on all aspects of the project, focusing primarily on directing and building this sensitive universe, helping to transform a period of distance into a narrative of connection. A film that didn't proclaim hope. It let it happen.
